No Dessert Update - 6 Things I've Learned From Cutting Dessert

Happy Friday lovelies!

So, today marks 2 months of no dessert, but let me tell you, it feels like a heck of a lot longer than that! Also, a few updates, I've decided to only do it for TWO months instead of six. So yes, I'm done. Judge me if you will, but only after you try it. It's a lot harder than it seems (explained more below). Also, I'm the last survivor! My brother dropped out, but I gotta give him credit, he lasted for about 2 months.

But that's not important. Let me share with you some things that I've learned on this journey so far.

1. I'm way too ambitious for my own good. Six months doesn't sound too bad after you've just eaten pie. But late nights with friends who are all eating dessert around you is freaking hard to deal with.

2. Nutella pizza from Famoso is hard to resist. The sweet aroma of melted Nutella on a delicious crust gets to you.

3. I can say no to sweets more than I thought I could! Yay! Definitely a form of self empowerment.

4. You have tons of self control when it comes to cheat day You will indulge whenever there's an excuse - i.e. birthday's, weddings, holidays...Cinco de Mayo, Easter, and Mother's Day to name a few... I'd rather have one day a week as a "cheat" day to eat sweets and whatnot, vs only holidays.

5. Taste buds regenerate regularly and when you eat less sweets, you don't want them as much. That might seem contradictory to above, but I think it's because on holidays you know it's the only day when you can eat it so you eat as much as you can.

Favourite Five: BSB

If you didn't know already, this weekend (number 8 on my summer bucket list) was pretty amazing for me. And it's all because of 5 men. And my sister, asked me if I wanted to go to a certain concert because her husband decided it wasn't his thing (win for me!). Who are these 5 men you ask? The one and only Backstreet Boys!

Let me tell you, they still got it. All of them (as seen here). Howie did a nice booty shake, but sadly I can't find a video. Just Youtube it, and I'm sure you'll find something close. And then there's Nick. Nick has had me, ever since I was 6 years old.

Feel free to read a little overview of how great the concert was here

Anyway, it was amazing. So, here are my favourite five this week.

Favourite Howie:

Favourite Nick:

Age looks well on him, that's for sure.

Favourite Brian:

Favourite Kevin:

He was always one of my favourites.

Favourite AJ:

So now, feel free to go on with your day, preferably listening to BSB. And get excited for their movie. I know I am! ;)

DIY Spoon Ring!

Hello folks!

The other night I embarked on an adventure of sorts. Now before there's too much suspense, I'll just tell you! ;) I made spoon rings!! (Duh by the title, hahah).

My one friend Jenna loves this Craft Show that comes to town, and a few years ago she bought these awesome spoon rings! I loved them! Then a while later I started to see them pop up all over Pinterest with DIY's. I pinned it roughly two years ago and never did it. Classic.

Anyway, Saturday night rolls around and I'm looking for something to do...other than watch movies online...because as great as that is, I feel lazy after a while - no it's just great. Moving forward....I decided to change up my regular routine of watching TV and decided to do something useful with my time. It's about time! So here is le tutorial:

So, it's pretty simple. Just measure your finger with a piece of paper and then cut that fancy spoon/fork. You can cut the edges in a bit too if you like. Luckily I have a lovely father who used his bandsaw (or something) to cut it for me, but you really only need a small metal cutter.

Now's the potentially hard part. If you decide not to read all the instructions on the blog then it will probably be harder...not from personal experience or anything....

MAKE SURE YOU USE A SOFT METAL!! I feel like they should have specified this more on the blog, so I'm capitalizing it now so it's not missed. If you decide to use a hard stainless steel, it will bend about as easily as a 95 year-old Luddite. For your sanity, use a soft spoon. You can easily tell by how difficult it is to bend with your hand at first.

Next, grab some pliers (or two) to hold and bend the spoon into a nice circle. This may take some time, so be a little patient. Or in my case, get a strong man to com help you if the struggle is real. Make sure it's a good fit to your finger and adjust if necessary.

Then all you have to do is use some sand paper on it and scrub-a-dub-dub until it's soft. The pliers might have made a few marks on your lovely ring (but that just gives it character), so nows the time to sand those away.

Here's how mine turned out!!

See my papa working so hard! He's a good one. :)

And there you have it! Spoon rings are awesome! Go make one! Just make sure to follow my advice above.

Ciao!

Monday Mother's Day Pranks (and a Small Challenge)!

My friends!

It's been far too long since I did a post about pranks, so today is the day. You've waited far too long. I know Mother's Day was last week, but does that mean we should forget our mothers?! OF COURSE NOT! They do things for us year round. So, continuing in the spirit of momma's day, here is a fantastic mothers day prank by one of my favourite pranksters, Stuart Edge.

Now go, rub your mom's feet, give her a back massage, paint her nails, make her breakfast, or even send her to the spa. I guarantee it will take her by surprise (unless you do these things on the regular, in which case props to ya) and make her smile. Love all around. :)

Happy Monday! Go do something nice for someone else!

Love,

Lo

Why Being Single is Awesome!! As Told by GIF's

My Friends! Thank you for stopping by!

Today is an irregular post, albeit still awesome. It has recently come to my attention that there are some out there who dislike that they are single (Obviously not me....)

Do you ever feel like this?

I mean, if I were a guy...

I mean, I'd like to think this:

And if someone doesn't feel the same way,

I will admit that sometimes it would be nice to be dating, but there's no point in whining about it, because let's be real - no one likes to listen to that. Sorry peeps. Best embrace the suck!

Ah, being single....

Some may see it as a burden, but I see it as an opportunity.

To do/have the following:

1. Shaving your legs - optional.

I'm just being real. No one will ever know except you.

2. Freedom

That's right, travel the world. You can go wherever, whenever. Wanna go teach English in Thailand?? Now's the perfect time to travel!

3. You can be weird and no one will judge you.

Good question Jen, I would also like to know.

4. Flirt all you want girl.

If you disregarded number 1, your chances may be better. But if you just wear pants all the time, you'll be fine. Go ahead, raise them eyebrows.

5. You got time fo yo friends!

Among other things you should be spending your time on, your friends are the ones who should be there for you no matter what. When you're single, you got mo time to appreciate em.

6. Them Dollas

Dating is costly. Dates, gifts, spending more money on how you look (you can't wear sweats forever...unless your single!) - these things all add up. Think of all the money you're saving just by not dating!

7. Time

This is underrated I think. You shouldn't be afraid to be alone. Being alone makes you think more. You get to know yourself and you can grow. Find out what really makes you happy (because despite popular belief, being with someone doesn't automatically make you happier).

Or work on some dance moves.

8. Stress Less

Unfortunately in most relationships there will be times of disagreement. What you spend money on, how you act, or being annoyed by the other person. Being single, all those problems cease to exist, making you less stressed.

So my friends, spread your wings and fly! Enjoy being single! Bask in it's benefits, because you won't be single forever! ;)

Peace and Blessings.

Mother's Day: They Don't Waste Their Breath

Today is Mother's Day! I love my mom so much. She is such an amazing person with a really good heart. She is a wonderful example to me. Plus sometimes she's hilarious.

Like that one time she wore my snapback. Seriously she's the best. I am really lucky to have her as my Mom.

Something people may not know about me is that I have two Moms! In a way, I feel grateful and happy that I have an angel in heaven watching over me plus one here on earth. Just so it's out of the way, my mom passed away when I was 3 from breast cancer. I didn't get to spend much time with her sadly, but it just makes me so excited to see her again later. I know it's no mistake that I have two moms, and I feel really blessed to have so much love from them both.

So I just want to say happy mothers day to all the women in my life! That includes my mothers, second mothers (i.e. Mamma Behr), aunts, friends, church leaders, and to all the other inspirational women in my life - regardless if you have children or not

And since you stopped by, here's a list of 20 Things Our Mother's Told Us When We Were Younger That We Should've Listened To. You should really check it out!

    Sending lots of love,

    Summer Bucket List Part 1

Something that I've been thinking about recently is what makes me happy and fulfilled. And I found out a big part of that is goals and doing things I've always wanted to try - not that they have to be really big things (like skydiving...still yet to be done!) but either way, that is what makes me happy and content with my life.

Tone It Up came out with the idea of a #createyoursummer bucket list. So I got to it. I put it on Instagram, but could only fit like 5 or 6 things in the picture.

Side Note: a fun fact about me is that I love lists! I love putting all my ideas down and being able to organize and check them off....at least ideally - I won't talk about how little much actually gets done off them usually. But anyway! Naturally a summer bucket list is the best idea. It's the ultimate Try-It-Tuesday! ;)

So here it is in (almost) all it's glory. My 51 item summer bucket list [I left 2 out ;)] :

    1. Road Trip

    3. Campfire and S'mores
